About digris

Digris Limited is an Anglo-Swiss joint venture formed in 2021 to service the new tier of UK Small-scale DAB multiplexes that are currently being advertised by Ofcom. These are being rolled-out under the auspices of the Broadcasting (Radio Multiplex Services) Act 2017 which opens up the opportunity for new and existing broadcasters to transmit on the 'Free-To-Air' digital terrestrial radio platform.

Digris AG was founded in 2012, specialising in DAB+, and operating a network of DAB+ transmitters throughout Switzerland and in France. The first Swiss trials were carried out in 2008 and the first permanent DAB+ services have been broadcasting since May 2014. Now in 2021, digris Limited has established its operations in the UK, staffed by UK nationals who are highly experienced in planning, integrating, deploying and supporting DAB/+ networks.

At this time, digris operates 19 Single Frequency Networks comprising of more than 60 DAB+ transmitters in the range of just 6 watts to 50,000 watts ERP (MFN & SFN) carrying over 230 DAB+ services in Switzerland (which equates to 60% of the FM and DAB+ radio offering), and 201 DAB+ services spread over multiplexes across France, in Normandy, Hauts de France, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Alsace, and the Côte d'Azur.

Thanks to its experience and its investment in the OpenDigitalRadio solution, digris has been working closely with the WorldDAB group since the beginning, which allowed the rapid implementation of new features as they became standardised. For example: UTF-8 FIG2 label, EDI, LSN linking, service, announcements, and data-over-dab - these are all available from our platform.

Our approach to using open source delivers value, ensures reliability of the technical solutions we implement, and provides complete freedom from the development cycles of third-party providers. As a proactive developer, digris ensures that it’s clients have access to the very latest features - this includes valuable new revenue generation opportunities. We believe such technical developments are essential for broadcasters at a time when competition for advertising budgets, from the online space, is becoming increasingly tough.

Digris was also chosen by the editors of the M1 metropolitan multiplex (RTL Groupe, Energy Groupe, Skyrock) to support and advise them on the technical choices to be implemented for the deployment of their national network in France. Digris has been also selected by OFCOM, (the Swiss regulator), to deploy a 4th DAB (complete coverage of French-speaking Switzerland) with the start of a 27 transmitter SFN planned for commissioning in autumn 2021.

Today the group has 11 employees and prides itself on reliability, quality and efficiency - for the benefit of our clients.
