History

The journey and the idea of Leeds first Asian radio station started back in the summer of 1989, by September month we were broadcasting on FM as Radio Apni Awaaz meaning “Our Voice”. We soon learned our radio wasn’t just about playing music it was also about keeping our listeners up dated with important local community news such funeral announcements, training and jobs opportunities, celebrating weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and young people passing their A level exams. From March 1999 we changed our name to Radio Asian Fever. Fever FM as now known delivered 9 RSL broadcasts, in October 2005 we were awarded the full – time Community radio License by OFCOM.
